A MESSAGE FROM Kerri
Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon Fundraising. No donation is too small. Please click on the donate button!
The baby in my profile pic is Nadia. She turned 7 in the first week in September. This picture was taken when she was just a few weeks old; so just about seven years ago.
Seven years ago, I lost my hair.
Seven years ago, I was finishing up chemo treatments.
Seven years ago, I wasn't sure that I'd be here in seven years.
Seven years ago, I was very scared.
Seven years ago, I knew the fight wasn't over, but I didn't know that I was only halfway done.
Seven and a half years ago, I entered Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for the first time, but not the last time.
Now I have all my hair (and then some)
Now, not only are my chemo treatments in the rearview mirror, but so is the immunotherapy (the treatment I underwent when the cancer recurred).
Now, I'm planning on being here for at least another 40 years.
Now, I can plan for the future.
I've been cancer free for over five years now, and while I'm not going to say the worry is gone, I do know that the odds of another recurrence are extremely low. This is due in no small part to the work done by MSKCC.
And to thank them, I am raising money through Think Pink Rocks and the NYC Marathon.
So, far I've raised 1/3 of the total amount needed, but I need your help for the rest.
If you are looking for a charity for end of year taxes (coming up sooner than you think) or just feel like doing a mitzvah/good deed, donate your dollars, pounds, euros, sheckels, won, yen, etc.
Cancer is very scary.
Cancer gives no effs.
Cancer just takes and takes and takes.
But, now you can give to help keep cancer at bay for others.
Thank you.
