In 2019, my dad began his battle with Alzheimer’s. At the same time, I started to run.
At this point in my life, the longest I had ever run before was 3 miles.
Somehow running helped me deal with the emotional toll of confronting my dad’s condition.
And perhaps I was confronting my own mortality, too.
Every single time I lace up my running shoes, I am reminded of my dad's curiosity and optimism for life, and how--more than anything else he taught me--he taught me to embrace life and celebrate the little moments--not only the milestones. And now, I find myself trying to make new memories for my sons, as his memories slip away.
This November I am excited to run my first New York City Marathon across the five boroughs while raising money for Team ADDF.
Currently, more than 50 million people live with Dementia & Alzheimer’s and every minute, someone develops the disease. There are no survivors.
I cannot do this alone. Your support is what I need. My goal is to raise $14,000
Every single cent goes to researching a cure for Alzheimer’s.
Thank you for your generosity. I am eternally grateful.
