Hi everyone! My name is Lindsy, and I’m so excited to be running the 2026 Chicago Marathon as part of Team Hoyt. Supporting this team is such an honor because the Hoyt family’s story is one of the most inspiring I’ve ever come across.
It all started with Dick and Rick Hoyt, a father-son duo whose message of inclusion and possibility has touched the lives of so many. When Rick was young, doctors said he would never walk or speak, but the Hoyts refused to let that define what he could do. With unwavering belief and determination, Dick pushed Rick in races all over the country. Together they completed over a thousand races, including 32 Boston Marathons, duathlons, and even full Ironman triathlons. Their motto, “Yes You Can,” isn’t just a slogan, it’s a movement. They’ve inspired millions and reshaped the way we think about what’s possible for people with disabilities.
I’ve been lucky enough to run both the Boston Marathon and the New York City Marathon, and every time I fundraised for charity, I got to meet members of Team Hoyt. Each time I left feeling so inspired by their energy, their heart, and the incredible story they continue to carry forward. This year, I had the chance to meet Russ and talk with him personally. That conversation moved me in a way I didn’t expect. His passion and genuine love for the Hoyt mission made me even more motivated to raise money and support this incredible foundation.
When I found out I was selected to represent Team Hoyt in Chicago, I knew this was exactly where I was supposed to be. I’m raising $4,000 to help the Hoyt Foundation continue empowering individuals with disabilities, promoting inclusion, and giving everyone the chance to be part of the race in not only running, but in life.
I run because I believe in this mission. I run to honor the Hoyt family and the legacy they built. I run because I hope to help even one more person feel the power of “Yes You Can.” Thank you so much for supporting me, helping continue this incredible legacy, and supporting my goal to complete the Abbott World Marathon Majors.
