A MESSAGE FROM Lisa
Before December 14, 2012 Sandy Hook was a small town in Connecticut that no one even knew existed, now it is a town that is used to describe one of the worst school shootings in US history.
I lived in Sandy Hook, 6 minutes from the school, for 27 years and my cousin was a teacher at the school the day of the shooting. My cousin was able to make it out alive but to see family and friends torn apart by the tragedy is something that never goes away.
I now live in Austin TX but wear my Sandy Hook bracelet everyday, rarely ever taking it off. With the latest shooting happened in Uvalde TX its a reminder that no matter how far away you are the chance of an incident like this happening again is only growing.
Never forget, never again.
I will be running the NY marathon for the first time and excited to be able to spread awareness for a cause so close to my heart.
