Hello everyone!
My name is Sally Lopez, and I'm a teacher who runs for fun. Ironically, I first got into running when I signed up to be a Girls on the Run coach at my school - but at the time, I couldn't even run a mile! As I coached my girls through the program, I slowly fell in love with running. It challenged me, pushed me outside my comfort zone, and showed my girls that if I could do it, so could they.
Since then, I've completed 10 5Ks and two half marathons, and now I'm training for my biggest challenge yet: the Bank of America Chicago Marathon this October!
I'm incredibly proud to be running as a Girls on the Run-Chicago SoleMate (charity athlete). While I train for the marathon, I'm also raising funds to support Girls on the Run-Chicago, with a fundraising goal of $2,200. Every donation helps ensure more girls have access to this life changing program.
Girls on the Run is a nonprofit, after school program, that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident. Through a unique combination of physical activity and social emotional learning, participants build confidence, strengthen relationships, and develop skills that help them navigate life's challenges. As both a coach and a teacher, I've seen firsthand the incredible impact this program has on young girls, and I'm honored to help make it accessible to even more participants.
If you're able, I'd be so grateful for your support as I work toward both my marathon finish line and my fundraising goal. Every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful difference.
