A MESSAGE FROM For my son Pete
On Sept 16th, 2015 we were blessed to welcome our 6th child into this world. Peter Francis LeTourneau joined our troop! Peter was named after the first and current Pope in our Catholic Faith. With having a house full of children, we saw it as such a blessing that as a baby Pete was so quiet and peaceful and would sit still all the time. We never had to worry.
Fast forward to Nov. 2017 and we realize why that was the case. Peter was a diagnosed with being on the spectrum - i.e. Autism Spectrum Disorder. My wife and i were unsure what this meant for our lives and what happened that would have caused this to be. We have 5 "typical" kids, so what went wrong or what could we have done differently.
Little did we know that this was the true blessing from God. Our son Peter has been one of the closest examples of God's love we have ever experience in human form. He has such love for everyone around him, he shares in happiness and joy and has a smile that melts all the cares, worries and problems away. We have loved this journey of watching Peter develop and grow.
And we now know it wasn't anything we had done wrong, but it was actually God's gift to us for a job done well. Being parents of a childr on the spectrum takes you on a beautiful journey. We are so grateful that God has brought Pete into our lives and helped us see the world through His eyes.
And we do have now 7 kids that are all normal, each one in their own unique way!
Please help us to reach our goal. To find more information and resources for kids with Autism and how we can give them the best care and research possible. Let's get on our Feet and Run for Pete!!
