A MESSAGE FROM Lynnette
My father is from Chicago and the person who encouraged me to run — long before I took it seriously (when I’d tell him the only thing I ran for was planes LOL). Attending Whitney Young HS, I considered track, but 6am training was literally not the move. Fast-forward to today, here I am... training at 6am!
Some of my earliest memories as a schoolkid are living across from the park I’m running to support, Dunbar. Fast-forward to today as a longevity coach — this marathon truly feels like a full-circle moment: a return to the city, my block (at Mile 24 to be exact 🙌) and the public spaces that shaped me.
I previously ran the NYC Marathon in honor of my mother. Now Chicago is for dad and the city that helped raise me.
