Tick tock, taper o'clock!
It is WILD that I'm officially in the taper zone. Under 17 days until the marathon (have a little beyond that before I have to hit the fundraising goal) and the longest run I have on the line-up at this point is 14 miles. Had some interesting learnings over my last two really long run - mainly that I need to carry more fuel, so loading up more these days. Hoping it works! Grateful for all the donations - no matter how small. They add up to so much in aggregate and are helping with things such as voting guides for the autistic community to help explain the voting process. And while I'm at it, hope you'll all donate AND vote - so important! Xo

Where did the sun go?
As a mostly early morning runner, my runs are getting darker - and spookier - as I get closer to the end of the training cycle and the marathon. I'll have to post some photos here of the crazy decorations that have started to pop up along my run that have definitely kept it interesting. I recently had the chance to share about my fundraising with some of our employees at work and it was one of the most memorable on-the-job moments I've ever had. When I get tired during this training plan -- and believe me, I do! -- it really helps to remember our kids and this amazing cause, which make it all worth it. Thank you THANK YOU for your support! Less than 6 weeks to go!
Sunday I tackled my longest run EVER and longest of my training schedule— 21.1 miles! I've learned the calming influence of both listening to audiobooks (just plowed through Emily Henry's "Funny Story" in less than two days) and a good playlist. Very grateful for all the support of friends and family across the country. Your support is so felt. Appreciate your help as I work to cross the fundraising finish line (just over the halfway mark - THANK YOU!) and creep ever closer to the actual finish line in November. Almost here!

A MESSAGE FROM Lara's TCS NYC Marathon Fundraising Page
As a mom of two autistic not-so-small-these-days kiddos, I'm so honored to be again running together with the team supporting ASAN (Autistic Self-Advocacy Network). I'm thrilled to be getting to run a whopping 26.2 miles throughout all of the boroughs of my old home, NYC! 

ASAN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization run by and for autistic people. ASAN is a national grassroots disability rights organization for the autistic community fighting for disability rights. They work to empower autistic people across the world to take control of their own lives and the future of the common community, and seek to organize the autistic community to ensure their voices are heard in the national conversation about them. We’ve learned first-hand some of these challenges and how important organizations like ASAN are in supporting these rights.
