A MESSAGE FROM Madison's NYC Make-A-Wish Marathon
For as long as I can remember, my family and I have had a personal connection to both running and making an impact in the world through charitable organizations.
When I was 6 years old, I watched my dad run the NYC Marathon in 2002 in memory of his twin who passed away on 9/11 while raising money for impacted families. I will never forget the excitement of running around NYC with my mom cheering on my dad, while holding a sign that read "Go Daddy Go!"
By the time I was 10, I had began running with my dad around our neighborhood. Looking back now, I realize that finding running was the first time I fell in love. Since then, running has been a constant part of my life, whether it's running alongside the East Side River, participating in a half marathon, or running cross country in high school. Running is not only an activity, but it's an instrumental part of who I am.
Just as running was instrumental to my dad and I, giving back was a core tenant of my family. With my mother leading the way as a life long Social Worker, giving of herself (and including our family in) different important causes.
Most recently,
Most recently, my little sister has followed in the steps of my mother to make an impact as a non-profit professional. Today she is a proud part of the Make-A-Wish organization as the Coordinator of Digital Marketing and Content and I have never been more proud of her.
In 2022, on the best day of the year in New York (the NYC Marathon), I watched my little sister support the runners for Team Make-A-Wish and it all clicked. It was time for me to make a life long wish of mine (running the NYC Marathon) come true, while living my family values, and supporting the important work of Make-A-Wish. I am honored to officially be participating in the NYC Marathon in 2023 and thank you for your support of me and the children who benefit from Make-A-Wish.
On behalf of wish kids and their families, thank you for your generous gift to Team Make-A-Wish and Make-A-Wish Metro New York.
