A MESSAGE FROM Marie running the the NYC marathon for The Brain Tumor Foundation
As I am turning 25 this year I have decided to take on the challenge of a lifetime to a) run the NYC Marathon b) run for a charity that is very close to my family.
In June 2015 my aunt passed away from a brain tumour at the age of 52. Her passing has created an immense dent in our family, particularly for my grandmother whom I will be running in honour of. Since 2015 my grandmother and mum have been diagnosed with Meningioma. As brain tumours have touched many of my loved ones and continues to affect families all around the world I am beyond excited to be raising funds for the Brain Tumor Foundation!
The Brain Tumor Foundation is an amazing charity that provides support to brain tumour patients and their families as well as facilitate access to brain screenings and early detections signs which can be life saving.
As I take on the challenge of training to run 42.2km in November I invite you to donate whatever you can to help me reach $3000.
I will be running in honour of the women in my family, my grandmothers, mum and sister who inspire me everyday to be the strong independent woman that I thrive to become. I will also honour my dad, a veteran marathoner who inspired me to run the NYC marathon as he described as "the greatest running accomplishment". Lastly I will be running in memory of my aunt, who we miss everyday.
