A MESSAGE FROM Marisa Marcellino's NYC Marathon Fundraising Page!
Hi Everyone!!
In case you haven't heard I'm running the NYC Marathon on November 6th this year!! No, thanks for asking, I didn't lose a bet!
It's been an item on my NYC "To Do" List for years (my mom forbids the use of "Bucket List") and I'm so honored and excited to be finally running and taking on this challenge.
I'm running on behalf of the Marlene Meyerson JCC-- it's a hub on the Upper West Side for culture, fitness and community and I'm so proud to be a member of this incredible team.
I've been training for a few months on the JCC team and with the New York Road Runners and despite some bumps and bruises along the way-- I'm determined to make it 26.2 (and not a step further) with your help and support!
I'm raising $2,500 to support the amazing programming at the JCC and I'd love it if you could help me reach my goal. No amount is too small!
While the JCC has a handful of Centers of Excellence-- The Jack and Shirley Silver Center for Special Needs sticks out to me. Their adaptive aquatics program teaches kids who need extra support how to swim and enjoy the water safely. They also offer inclusive groups for teens and a job program for all adults including those with developmental and learning disabilities. This type of programming is vital to our community and I'd love if you can help me make it even better.
One last thing...last year, I covered the marathon for News 12 and ended my reporting at Mile 20 in the Bronx. It's typically referred to as "The Wall" where runners are supposed to begin to crumble and their remaining energy is supposed to rapidly drain from their aching bodies 6.2 miles before the finish. Well, I learned--- “The Wall” doesn't exist (fake news) and I’m excited to continue to prove it.
The 50,000 invincible runners from across the globe are fueled by the energy and spirit of this city and of every New Yorker along the route—I get chills just thinking about it. Together we are more powerful than well, absolutely anything (and certainly any proverbial wall)! Let's go have some fun!
