A MESSAGE FROM Meghann
As you all know, running is a big part of my life, and has been since I was little. This year I am running my 14th Kilimanjaro Half Marathon on February 26th and my first time running the London Marathon on April 23rd. Running is my refuge, my escape, but it has also turned into an incredible way to advocate for what I believe so strongly in - access to quality education for all.
This year, our most pressing need is to complete and launch our Interactive Learning Centre by June. This Centre will bolster the opportunities of not only the scholars, teachers, parents and guardians that we work with, but expand our impact and introduce new educational innovations. Our Learning Centre flips traditional education on its head, making 21st century learning practical, and innovation possible for all. TFFT is bringing quality education and resources to the learner, wherever they are in their learning journey. The result, a more highly educated and innovative workforce. My $35,000 fundraising goal represents the annual salary of the Managing Director we are looking to hire to run the Learning Centre.
For the last 16 years TFFT has been working to provide access to quality education to reduce poverty and inequalities. We are, and have been committed to improving the educational opportunities for Tanzania's most vulnerable children.
By educating vulnerable children, entire families will be uplifted. Our LC programs will focus heavily on women, who are the backbone of the family, and often bear a heavier burden when it comes to balancing work and family. No matter their stage in life, or whether their learning journey has stalled or never began, actively engaging with the LC will provide essential tools and concrete solutions. This will be different in many ways, not the least of which is in its participatory programming. Even its physical structure was designed to transform how people learn. This environment will bolster TFFTβs existing programs, engage the entire community, and ignite lifelong learners. We have used principles of human centered design to ensure the birth of a unique community of inquiry-based learners.
It is inspiring to see what one person can do to change the course of another individuals life and even more powerful to see education be that change. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world." This Margaret Mead quote has carried me through these growing TFFT.
Thank you for being a part of the TFFT Family and my journey!
