A MESSAGE FROM Div is Running for Wellness in the Schools
Hello friends,
This past year and a half was unimaginable. There are endless reasons why it has been difficult for just about everyone, then there are the many ways that it has been hard on an individual level as well. I hope each of you can also point to something positive that emerged over this strange time as well.
For myself, I was able to be a part of and witness amazing work that was a product of many selfless individuals and organizations. On November 4th, I am running the New York City Marathon to raise funds and give thanks to one of those very organizations Wellness in the Schools (“WITS”) is an inspiring organization dedicated to teaching kids healthy habits to learn and live better. During the early days of the pandemic - as our city and world began to shut down - they jumped to action to secure meals for the communities they knew would have a hard time finding food. Green Top Farms (my company) partnered with WITS in this effort and provided food for thousands of New Yorkers in the process.
This early work in the pandemic led to several other incredible efforts in which I and the Green Top team were able to participate. Providing meals to first responders, home-delivered meals to the homebound and the Farmers to Families Food Box program (which secured millions of pounds of food for our non-profit partners in New York City and Long Island). This work would not have been possible without the support of Nancy Easton of WITS as well as several other incredible humans like Samantha Katz and our dear friend Teddy VanBeuren who made these connections possible.
I am running the marathon for the first time this year to say thank you to WITS specifically, but also to say thank you to all of the incredible people that during the most trying times sought ways to help the people they knew would need it most. I hope to raise some funds to aid in the continuation of WITS mission and ask for any donation you can make to help me in saying thank you.
I hope you are all well and are ready to spread some love by coming out on race day — one of the best NYC has to offer! Our world could truly benefit from the unity this day inspires. This year will be especially brilliant as it is both the 50th anniversary of the race and the rare occasion that it's been two years since the last marathon was run.
Thank you for your support and hope to see you somewhere along the way on Sunday November 7th!
