A MESSAGE FROM Murphy's NYC Marathon for TFFT Fundraising Page
Hi! Thanks for being here :) I'm so excited to be running the NYC Marathon for an organization I hold near and dear to my heart: The Foundation for Tomorrow (TFFT). If you feel called to donate to support me and TFFT, you're in the right place.
TFFT's mission is to secure quality education and support the well-being of orphaned and vulnerable children in Tanzania so they may reach their full potential and thrive in their communities by providing them with education and ensuring they have a safe place to live. Only 28% of Tanzanians complete secondary school, which is what makes TFFT so pivotal in changing lives and communities. In addition to tuition costs, your donation will go toward resources such as textbooks, medical insurance, psychosocial support, career coaching, teacher training programs, and nutritional support for scholars with HIV.
This past summer and in 2017, I had the incredible opportunity to see TFFT's impacts in action in Tanzania. In short, I was in awe of the truly groundbreaking and profound effect TFFT has had in Arusha--it's the talk of the town! The scholars I met, like Mary (pictured in my "profile picture" on this page), radiate hope, and they deserve the same educational opportunities as we do to truly flourish. With that, I'm so thankful organizations like TFFT exist so that we can support the lives of countless of our brothers and sisters across the globe.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” - Nelson Mandela
Let’s not only change the world but give these children a chance to do so too!
Honorable mention: my inspiration to run a marathon in the first place is my mom! As some of you may know, my mom finished the 2013 Boston Marathon minutes before tragedy struck. By running my first marathon, I want to honor those who lost their lives that day and help bring some joy back to running. Needless to say, a fire has been lit under me to carry my legs 26.2 miles through New York between that and supporting TFFT, so I thank you so much in advance for the support.
Asante sana,
Murphy
