Our Story:
In September of 2016, our son Max was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
It's a day I will never forget.
And no matter how prepared for the diagnosis I thought I was, when our developmental pediatrician said very matter of factly, this is Autism, I felt my world change forever.
I cried.
And I pressed for answers.
Where does he fall on the spectrum?
What will this mean for school?
Will he start talking more?
Will he make friends?
I wanted answers.
But with Autism, it’s not that simple.
With Autism, there are more questions than answers. There is no roadmap, medication, or cure to offer.
And our doctor was very honest with me about that. I left the appointment with a thick binder full of information, but feeling lost and overwhelmed.
Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder, yet it’s the most underfunded.
More needs to be done. We need more answers in this Autism Community of ours. We need more research and more funding.
This is why my husband Scott and I are participating in the Eagles Autism Challenge on May 19th.
Our son Max is the love of my life. He just turned four and he is doing amazing.
He is sweet, silly, and works so hard all week long in hours of therapy sessions. He loves animals, his guitar, his sister Mia, and anything mechanical, especially vacuum cleaners and washing machines.
He wears Superman shirts every day.
He is happy and talks my ear off all day long.
And I am so thankful.
But we still have so many unanswered questions...especially about the future.
Please consider supporting our fundraising efforts, as 100% of the funding will go directly to supporting autism research through a coalition with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Drexel University and Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health.
Help us unlock the mystery of Autism.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
