My name is Nick and I've been a Police Officer with the Department of Environmental Protection Police for 7 years. This year in November I will be running 26.2 miles in the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon. I will be running for the organization Answer The Call New York Police and Fire Widow and Children's Benefit Fund. The mission of the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund is to support the families of New York City Police Officers, Firefighters, Port Authority Police, and EMS Personnel who have been killed in the line of duty. The organization not only provides immediate support to the families when they lose a loved one in the line of duty, but they provide assistance for the rest of the widow or widower’s life. 

For me this run is personal, as a police officer I know the meaning behind putting your life on the line. I feel that it is important to support the families of those lost because I know that if something was to ever happen to me I would want my family to be taken care of. I know that my family is proud of me and the choices that I make everyday. Supporting me means supporting all the families who have lost someone courageous enough to make a difference.
