There are over 5,600 children in Cook County who are in the foster care system due to abuse or neglect. These children face a mountain of challenges often struggling through school, battling health problems, and a constant sense of instability. The longer they're stuck in the system, the harder things get.

The truth is that the child welfare system is drowning. Caseworkers are overwhelmed, resources are stretched thin, and families aren't getting the support they desperately need. This leads to delays, critical services falling through the cracks, and, tragically, even more children at risk. 

That's why I'm running the Chicago Marathon for CASA of Cook County. These aren't just stats – they're real kids with real names, real fears, and real dreams. CASA volunteers become their champions - unwavering advocates in a system that often feels overwhelming.
