A MESSAGE FROM Odalis' fundraising page
Hello! For those of you that don't yet know me, my name is Odalís and I've been running for 12 years! To make a long sob story short, I started running at the ripe age of 13, the same time I developed an eating disorder that nearly took me OUT in 2021. Running had always come naturally to me, so it was an easy way for me to "manage" my weight; however, I lacked proper training, nutrition, and over all self-worth which ultimately landed me in rehab in 2021. I was forced to quit my first big girl job post graduation and go into recovery. In my time away from work I healed my relationship with myself, food, and rekindled my true love for running!! I felt like I was gifted a second chance at life!! One that I would NOT take for granted! And so, I embarked on this journey to shed light on the importance of physical and mental wellbeing and share my love for running, as it saved my life (you gotta EAT if you want to run! Not the other way around!) Girls on the Run is an AMAZING organization that provides young girls with the tools they need to build self-confidence and strength. Tools & knowledge that could have possibly saved little Odalís from the struggles of her young adult years. I am so grateful to be able to run the Bank of America Marathon this year and to be able to give back to Girls on the Run. This is my opportunity to give back and say thank you to God for allowing me another chance at life. So, please, no donation is too small. Help me in supporting Girls on the Run and their mission to uplift young girls from all backgrounds!
