A MESSAGE FROM Patricia
Dear Friends,
Eight years ago I ran my first NY Marathon and first race ever for Every Mother Counts. Eight years later, I have run races in different countries, continents, and states. All for Every Mother Counts, an organization that I support and love. Every Mother Counts works to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for everyone, everywhere.
This is why I run.
I run because every two minutes a woman dies due to complications of pregnancy and childbirth. With consistent access to basic and lifesaving maternity care, we can prevent these outcomes. Every woman deserves quality, respectful and equitable maternity care. I was lucky enough to have access for incredible maternity care. I would love to make this a reality for every woman out there.
I run for Gerrity, Carolina, Gerrit and Magnus. From smiles on those perfect training days to tears on those days my body is exhausted and I feel like I may not make it, they are my constant inspiration.
I run because I realize how lucky I am to have my health and what a privilege it is to move my body. After the heartbreaking loss that many people experienced these last 18 months, I will never take my body and health for granted.
I run because I love New York and I can't think of a better way to honor this amazing city than running in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the NY Marathon.
Please consider donating to this wonderful organization and to my run.
See you soon!
Patricia
