A MESSAGE FROM Rebecca's Fundraising Page
Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2024 Houston Marathon Race Weekend. I will be running the half-marathon, God willing, in honor of my father, George Brittain III.
I am raising money for a non-profit charity called CanCare. Their mission is to support cancer patients with the help of former cancer survivors. They match cancer survivors to cancer patients who have been diagnosed with the same type of cancer so that the cancer patient has someone who truly understands what they're going through, and can offer emotional support, guidance, and friendship.
As you may know, my father passed away in December 2022 after less than ONE MONTH of being officially diagnosed with colorectal cancer metastasized to his liver. It was fast. It was awful. It is still VERY heartbreaking. Unfortunately, his diagnosis was caught too late and he did not get to benefit from any type of treatment nor have an opportunity to meet anyone who could empathize with his diagnosis. In a perfect world, he would have at least had the chance to talk to someone who had gone through a colorectal cancer diagnosis while facing his final days.
CanCare has locations supporting 49 states and serves in Memorial Hermann Hospital, among others. The founder of Cancare is actually a survivor of stage four colon cancer that had metastasized to her liver, like my father. 💔 One of the things that confirmed my decision to raise money for CanCare was looking at their financial statements and seeing that MD Anderson and Methodist Hospital actually make donations TO CanCare.
I believe this organization is doing great things.
No donation is too small. Every dollar counts. Every cancer patient is important. Please click on the donate button to give what you can in honor of my father, George Brittain III.
