A MESSAGE FROM Reed
In just two short months I’ll be running the NY Marathon with NAMI - The National Alliance on Mental Illness.
In 2009 I lost my mother, Ruth, to suicide after a battle with depression which she largely fought in silence. Although we’ve made much progress over the last 10 years in destigmatizing depression, there is still much work to be done. NAMI helps to provide resources for people with mental illness and provides a place for support and open discussion. I’ve partnered with NAMI because I like to see a world where my mom would have felt comfortable seeking the help she needed and found the necessary support to help her cope.
Support me and NAMI-NYC as I run the 50th Anniversary 2021 TCS New York City Marathon!NAMI-NYC helps families and individuals affected by mental illness
build better lives through education, support, and advocacy. As a
mental health leader in New York City, NAMI-NYC provides the most
comprehensive family and peer support system. Our core programs are
nationally recognized, evidence based programs.
Since 1982, NAMI-NYC has provided support to a vastly under-served
population of families and individuals who live with mental illness.
Our Helpline, peer-led support groups, and educational courses allow
families and individuals to share their struggles, and talk about
symptoms, treatments, community resources, and strategies for coping.
All groups and classes are facilitated by trained peer volunteers -
we have "been there," where you are, and we understand what you're
going through.
Your donations help NAMI-NYC provide education, support, and
advocacy to over 30,000 New Yorkers yearly, all free-of-charge to
anyone who needs them. With your support, we will continue to expand
our services to reach more New Yorkers every year.
Thank you.
