Welcome to my Happiness Is Camping donation page! Happiness Is Camping is a non-profit camp for children with cancer and sickle cell disease. They provide 4 week long overnight camping sessions for children with cancer or in remission from cancer as well as their siblings, and a weekend family camp. They also offer two family camp weekends for children with sickle cell and a young adults retreat weekend for 18-25 year olds who have aged out of the normal summer camp. These programs are completely free of charge for the campers and their families, which is why fundraisers such as this are so crucial to such a meaningful organization.
The cost to host one camper per week is approximately $2,000. Campers have the opportunity to develop confidence as they master new skills such as swimming, climbing, and archery. Funds are also needed to provide art supplies, STEM education, athletics, and the purchase of campfire supplies so that campers can bond while roasting marshmallows with friends. It gives them the opportunity to catch up with peers that they may have missed while in the hospital, and they get to do it with other children who understand what they have been through, and kids who may share the same physical and emotional scars. You are single handedly creating life changing opportunities and lifelong memories for our campers, and the impact of your donation cannot be overstated.
Being a pharmacist, outdoor enthusiast, and mom of 3, this is the perfect charity to represent for 26.2 miles. I am incredibly grateful and honored to represent Happiness is Camping in the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon! Thank you so much for your donation!
