A MESSAGE FROM Dashing for a Great Cause
As someone who was raised in NYCHA's Lillian Wald Houses in the Lower East Side, the mission of NYUL resonates with me. Growing up, my family relied heavily on government assistance programs, as many of my friends did, but even then it was still tough. As an adult, it seems even harder for people living in underserved communities in New York City to get by especially with gentrification, raising the question, "where do we go now?" I love that the NYUL empowers people, especially at a crucial time, to be on a path to success and relieve some of the mental stress that comes with being a lower-income resident in NYC that affects us all. I'm proud to be running for a great cause that can help those that look like me.
