I am running the BSIM for the second time, this time it is about more than just physical and mental health—it is a mission with a profound new purpose. I am honored and grateful to be part of this group, running in unity to support the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) and those impacted by this disease. My wife, Jill, whom I affectionately call my "warrior goddess," first faced a meningioma brain tumor prior to us meeting. Nine years ago her and her family's lives were turned upside down after she suffered a grand mal seizure during a walk on Christmas morning. She was rushed to the hospital where a CT scan and MRI confirmed a large tumor pressing on her brain. She underwent a craniotomy, radiation and tough recovery process. During a recent MRI follow up we were shocked and sad to find out a new, small meningioma tumor was found. We are so grateful it was found early and for the radiation treatment she will receive. Her doctors are confident of its high success rate to stop the growth of the tumor, allowing her life of health and purpose to continue. She will receive radiation treatment the week before the race. My 26.2-mile run will be a testament to her unwavering strength and the strength of others affected by a brain tumor. I am grateful for this opportunity to meet and run alongside others who share this commitment. Thank you for supporting me as I run to honor Jill.
