A MESSAGE FROM Our 2023 NYC Marathon Fundraiser
Hi, we are Jess, Erika, and Nancy. We live in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, WA. We are running the New York Marathon on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis foundation. Each of us are eager to help fund the research that continues to save so many lives. As a nurse, at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. I have taken care of many patients with CF. I met a young boy named Matt Poszgai. I became close with his family and learned more and more about how debilitating CF was. Matt was my patient for many years at Doernbecher and I witnessed at first hand how difficult and exhausting CF was on his body. For 25 years Matt was chronically ill and in and out of the hospital. Walking down a hallway was exhausting. Until a medication called Trikafta came around, it was a miracle drug for Matt and countless others. Thanks to the research by done by the CF foundation Trikafta has helped Matt lived the life he has always wanted to live. We are inspired to run for those who can’t.
