A MESSAGE FROM Ryan Running to Grant Some Wishes
On behalf of wish kids and their families, my own family included, thank you for your gift to Team Make-A-Wish. By supporting the team, you are making wishes come true!
I'm running and raising to pay forward the wish that my family was granted after my sister, Megan, was diagnosed with AML--an acute form of leukemia. She's been in remission for over 10 years now; as a minister of the Universal Life Church, I had the pleasure of marrying her to her loving hubby, Brian, last fall. It was a beautiful, happy-tear filled day for everyone.
My sister thought long and hard about her wish and decided on the Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb in Australia. Make-A-Wish sent the whole family; it was a beautiful end to a chapter full of hardship and healing.
Now, I find myself in medical school in NYC, inspired in part by the nurses in Hackensack that took care of my family to be someone's "rose in no man's land". I couldn't have asked for a more poetic way to see my own wish, of running the NYC Marathon, to come to fruition. So, please, if you've got a couple extra bucks to throw towards the granting of wishes, this page will be available until November 5th.
