As a nonprofit, The Morton Arboretum relies on the generosity of donors like you to advance the planting and conservation of trees, creating a greener, healthier, and more beautiful world where people and trees thrive together.
I'm running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon with Team Morton Arboretum because this cause is deeply personal to me. As a scientist conducting environmentally focused physics research, I'm passionate about protecting our planet's ecosystems—especially threatened trees—and supporting the groundbreaking scientific research at the Arboretum that drives new discoveries and real-world conservation solutions.
Beyond the environment, I've always been extremely passionate about working with and advocating for the special needs community—a part of my life that many people know well. The Morton Arboretum shares this commitment through its dedication to accessibility and inclusion. Their Children's Garden and many trails feature paved paths, ramps, sensory-friendly resources like borrowable bags with headphones, fidgets, and calming tools, plus dedicated Sensory-Friendly Times for quieter, more comfortable visits. These efforts make the Arboretum a welcoming space for everyone, allowing families and individuals of all abilities to connect with nature, learn, and find joy outdoors.
I've always been an athlete, but after college, I stepped away from competitive sports. This marathon is my exciting new challenge—a long-term goal that's already rewarding as I train and push my limits. My childhood best friend (since kindergarten!) is joining me in this adventure, making every mile even more meaningful as we cross the finish line together. My only goal? To complete the 26.2 miles and celebrate what we can achieve with determination and support.
Your donation will fuel vital tree research, conservation, and inclusive nature-based education for families, adults, and the next generation of tree champions—including those in the special needs community who deserve full access to these inspiring spaces.
Thank you for believing in this mission and helping me make a difference—one step (and one tree!) at a time. Every contribution counts toward my fundraising goal and the Arboretum's vision. GO HUG A TREE!
