Pope Benedict XVI wrote: "The Church's deepest nature is thus expressed in her three-fold duty: to proclaim the Word of God, celebrate the sacraments, and to exercise the ministry of charity. These duties presuppose one another and are inseparable." Please take part in the Church's integral ministry of charity by supporting my fundraising efforts in running the 2023 New York City Marathon on behalf of Catholic Charities. As a priest of the Archdiocese of New York I have witnessed firsthand the tremendous good Catholic Charities does for those in need.     All this I do for the sake of the gospel, so that I too may have a share in it. Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize? Run so as to win. Every athlete exercises discipline in every way. They do it to win a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. Thus I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight as if I were shadowboxing.
