A MESSAGE FROM Spencer's Central Park Conservancy Fundraiser
Hey everyone! I'm excited to share that this November I'll be running in the 2024 TCS New York Marathon. I’m not just hitting the pavement for kicks—I’m running with a purpose. Join me in backing the Central Park Conservancy, the folks who keep New York City's favorite green space in tip-top shape. My goal is to raise $3,000! Everything counts - whether it's a donation, spreading the word, a shoutout, or a "heck yeah brother!"
Central Park is one of the most visited urban parks in the world, attracting over 42 million visitors annually. Since the 1980s, the Central Park Conservancy, a private non-profit organization, has managed the park's restoration and maintenance. Supporting the Central Park Conservancy is not just about preserving a park; it's about investing in the heart of New York City and ensuring that future generations can enjoy this iconic green space.
Together, we can ensure Central Park stays lush and lively for generations to come.
Thank you all so very much and I'll see you at the finish line! - Spencer
~Fun facts about Central Park~
- Central Park spans 843 acres, making it larger than some countries such as Monaco and Vatican City.
- The park is home to a surprising amount of wildlife, including over 230 bird species, various mammals, fish, reptiles, and insects. It also features several bodies of water, meadows, and wooded areas, providing diverse habitats within the urban environment.
- Central Park contains several hidden gems and lesser-known spots, such as the Whispering Bench, where people can hear each other's whispers from opposite ends, and the Blockhouse, a 200-year-old fortification from the War of 1812.
