My brother Brett was diagnosed with ALS in 2020 and in his earlier years was a fantastic marathon runner, running in the Houston Marathon several times and qualifying for the Boston marathon several times as well, along with running the Boston marathon one year. After his diagnosis I wanted to do something meaningful to him while raising awareness and funding for ALS at the same time. In comes run for a reason with the Houston marathon and ALS of Texas. ALS of Texas does many things for Texas families dealing with ALS some of which include free counseling for ALS patients and family members as well as a free loaner program for numerous types of very expensive equipment to help deal with ALS. Some of these loaner things include motorized wheelchairs, wheelchair ramps etc to name just a few. Raising money to help this amazing organization would mean so much to me and my entire family!
