Why Am I Running?
Gladney Center for Adoption has been chosen for the 7th year in a row as an Official Charity Partner for the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon. As part of the charity partnership, there have been 10 runners selected from the Gladney family, whether it be adoptive parents, adoptees, birth parents, friends or staff members. As an adoptive dad to a 9 year old Gladney baby, I am extremely excited to be one of the lucky few chosen to represent Gladney this year at the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon.
As part of my participation in the event, I am fundraising for Gladney. My goal is to raise $5000 and have chosen to target the donation towards a specific function at Gladney – Birth Mother Services.
The birth mother services are so important to the adoption process as these women need extraordinary support to help them in their part of the adoption journey. They need financial support to help with living expenses and medical costs, along with ongoing counseling and other support as it relates to their well being not only during the adoption process, but for years after. The birth mother’s choice is an extremely difficult one and I will be forever grateful to the women and their families and I hope this fundraising effort can help me give back to the ones who have given me so much.
