A MESSAGE FROM Steven Runs a Marathon on His Birthday
A few years ago, I I saw that the 2026 Chicago Marathon was taking place on my birthday, and I knew I HAD to run it.
If you had told me a few years ago that I would run a marathon on my birthday, I wouldn't have believed you. However, there is NO better way for me to celebrate my birthday than by running for one of my favorite charities on my birthday.
For the fifth consecutive year, I am running a marathon in support of the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA). From the moment I signed on to run the 2022 Chicago Marathon for this organization, I have been fully committed to its mission.
GLASA seeks to create a world where every individual, regardless of physical or visual disability, can experience the sheer joy and empowerment that comes with participating in adaptive sports and wellness activities. From competitive sports to fitness and wellness programming, GLASA ensures that everyone has the opportunity to thrive on and off the playing field. Your donation transforms lives, offering hope and inclusion to thousands of GLASA athletes across 30 states!
I believe and support GLASA's mission because a few years ago, I volunteered as a counselor at an adaptive sports camp for kids who are visually impaired/blind. I got to see the impact that adaptive sports and wellness activities have on people. Participating in sports builds confidence and relationships that have a lasting impact away from the playing fields. Watching and supporting these campers for a week was an amazing experience and a great reminder that sports are for everyone. So, running for GLASA is not just a choice, but something I feel called to do.
I hope you'll join me in breaking down barriers and creating a community where every individual can experience the power of sports. Donate today to make an immediate impact!
As usual, all my donors will receive a postcard from Chicago to make sure they feel part of the race weekend experience.
