A MESSAGE FROM Steven Runs Berlin for GLASA
My running journey has been full of several unexpected opportunities, but each one has led to some incredible experiences. So, when the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA) offered me the chance to run the 2023 Berlin Marathon, I immediately said, "YES!"
I am thrilled to continue fundraising for GLASA because this life-changing organization provides year-round adaptive sports and
wellness programs, including providing all sports equipment for participants.
The Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association's motto is: "Let NO ONE sit on the SIDELINES." To me, that means people must work together to ensure everybody has the opportunity to pursue sports and recreation.
A few years ago, I was fortunate
to be a counselor at an adaptive sports camp for kids who are visually
impaired/blind, so I have seen the one-on-one impact that adaptive
sports has on people. Participating in sports helps build confidence and
relationships that have a lasting impact away from the playing fields.
Watching and supporting these campers for a week was an amazing
experience and a great reminder that sports are for everyone. So, running for GLASA is not just a choice, but something I
feel called to do.
Team GLASA charity runners
are dedicated to train for months, run 26.2 miles, and raise money to
support youth, adults, and veterans with a physical or visual
disability. GLASA programs benefit people in ages from 6 to 60-plus
because living a healthy lifestyle is a lifelong pursuit. I hope you'll
help me make the world a better place by donating to GLASA on my behalf
and providing these athletes with the programs and equipment they need
to succeed.
