This year, I am running the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon for New Destiny housing. It takes tremendous courage to leave an abuser. Yet, when a survivor does decide to leave, they often have nowhere to go and it becomes an awful choice between homelessness and safety. Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness in New York City. Once survivors and their children move into a domestic violence emergency shelter, they are 5 times more likely to move to another shelter than to their own apartment. New Destiny works to end the cycles of domestic violence and homelessness and served over 1,800 survivors and their children with permanent housing resources last year. That is why I am a New Destiny Runner and I hope you will join me in generous support.
