A dream of mine has always been to run the NYC Marathon, but to especially run it for an incredible cause. My mom is a Breast Cancer survivor (16 years cancer free) and my best friend. This non-profit organization along with any that helps promote awareness about early detection and genetic testing for Breast Cancer means the world to me and hits close to home.
In late 2005, following the recovery of their surgeries and the completion of chemotherapy, Stephanie, Elizabeth Weprin, Amy Seidman and Kathy Fleischman founded Think Pink with a mission to raise awareness about the BRCA gene mutation and the need for early detection of and genetic testing for breast cancer. Stephanie believes that if she knew about the BRCA gene mutation, she would have obtained genetic testing prior to her diagnosis based on her family history. She would have had more frequent screening which may have caught the cancer earlier.
In 2010 and over the next 12+ years, Think Pink Rocks pivoted its fundraising efforts by partnering with New York Road Runners. Each year, Think Pink Rocks recruits runners as a charity partner with the New York City Marathon held every November. I am so honored and blessed to run this race for all the beautiful women who lost their battle with Breast Cancer and for all the incredible survivors who overcame their battles to promote awareness and educate others about this important genetic mutation.
Donations to Think Pink Rocks will benefit charitable organizations. Beneficiaries include Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the Rogel Cancer Center at the University of Michigan, and other cancer centers.
Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon. No donation is too small. As a token of appreciation and respect for their bravery, I kindly ask you to make a donation in the comments section in memory of a loved one or survivor if you hold one close to your heart. I run because I have a purpose, and having a purpose is the most significant thing you can do.
‘I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me’ (Philippians 4:13).
Thank you all for your donations. I cannot wait for race day on November 3, 2024. 🩷🎗️
