Join the Eastport Volunteer Fire Company on Saturday, August 7, 2021 on a memorable ruck/walk to remember. The start of the event will be at 0800 at the Gold Star Family Monument located at 1919 Harwood Road, Annapolis (adjacent to the Maryland WWII Memorial). The course will take participants over the Naval Academy Bridge. A brief stop will be made at the US Naval Academy Cemetery where we will pay our respects at the grave of LCDR Erik Kristensen, SEAL. Erik was killed in action against Taliban fighters in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005 during Operation Red Wings. He and several other SEALs set off as part of a search and rescue mission, hoping to assist a four-man SEAL team that was engaged in a firefight with Taliban fighters. The ruck continues along the historic streets of Annapolis and will end at the Eastport Fire Station at 914 Bay Ridge Avenue. The total distance is about 3.5 miles. and we estimate the event to take about 90 minutes to complete. Additional logistical details will be provided as we approach the day of the event.
