In honor of my mom, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 40 and passed away in October 1988, I am running the AdventHealth Lady Track Shack 5K to raise awareness and support for the fight against breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed every October, reminds us of the importance of early detection and the life-saving impact of mammograms. The AdventHealth Breast Cancer Care Fund plays a critical role in this fight, helping women in our community who cannot afford clinical breast cancer exams and annual mammograms—the most effective tool we have. Just $135 funds a mammogram for one uninsured woman, providing the chance for early diagnosis and potentially saving a life.
