CanCare envisions a world where no one faces cancer alone. We provide hope and healing to the cancer community by ensuring that anyone facing cancer can have a survivor by their side.
CanCare is the only independent cancer support organization in Houston where highly trained cancer
survivors provide free, one-to-one emotional and mental health support to cancer patients and their
caregivers.
Since 1990, CanCare’s goal has been to ensure that each and every person facing cancer has access to
high-quality emotional support in order to better manage their diagnosis.
CanCare provides one-on-one matching services to connect cancer patients with CanCare volunteers by
cancer type, treatment method, life stage, age or gender. Our trained survivor volunteers have been
diagnosed with more than 50 different types of cancers and understand the physical, emotional and
spiritual turmoil caused by a cancer diagnosis.
CanCare partners with 11 Houston-area medical facilities to provide on-site volunteers who give
immediate emotional support to cancer patients and caregivers. During COVID, we have offered a referral
system for providers to refer patients to CanCare
