Welcome to the CCMI Reef Relief Squad for the 2026 Walkers Cayman Islands Marathon! 

CCMI is a marine research and education organisation located in Little Cayman on one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the region. We are working to understand how we can protect coral reef ecosystems for the future.

Rapidly changing climate is causing significant pressure on coral reefs, threatening their very survival. We are at a point in time where coral reefs urgently need our help. 

CCMI is at the forefront of understanding and addressing coral decline—including the effects of heat stress and disease—and have become regional leaders in the study of mesophotic reefs (30–150 m deep), an area of science with significant potential for uncovering climate refuges. We pair this research with immersive education and outreach activities, both in Little Cayman and around the world.

When you raise money through the Reef Relief Squad, you are helping sustain the timely, critical work CCMI is doing for the future of coral reefs!

2026 Walkers Cayman Islands Marathon

Sure, you could run just about anywhere in the world! But wouldn’t you prefer to run on a safe, beautiful Caribbean Island, surrounded by tropical flora and fauna, charming homes flawlessly landscaped and magnificent views of the sea? Well, come run with us in the Walkers Cayman Islands Marathon! The Walkers Cayman Islands Marathon takes place on Sunday, December 6, 2026. The event consists of a full marathon, half marathon, 4-person relay, and a Kids Fun Run. The race is in its 23rd year and growing! Our reputation is that of an intimate, warm, friendly, well-organised event, and we hope you'll come and experience it for yourself. Your registration fee includes: -Bib with timing chip -Commemorative runner tech shirt or tank top -Specially designed finisher's medal -Sponsors swag bag NOTE: Registrations are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.
