At Citizens for Animal Protection, out mission is to care for pets in need through sheltering, adoption, humane education, low-cost wellness and community outreach. We intake thousands of animals yearly and completed over 3,700 adoptions in 2025.

By joining our running team, you'll be running for a reason and helping provide care, shelter, and second chances for animals in need. Whether you're a seasoned marathoner, training for your first big race, or planning to tackle a relay or half marathon, your miles will make a real impact for the animals in our care.

The Houston Marathon is an annual marathon held every January in Houston, Texas. With thousands of runners and spectators, it is the largest single day sporting event in the city. It is run concurrently with a half marathon.
