First Candle is proud to be an official charity partner of the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon!  We are committed to ending SIDS and other sleep-related infant deaths, while also providing bereavement support to families who have experienced a tragic loss.

Did you know that every year approximately 3,600 babies die from Sudden Unexpected Infant Death? A vast majority of these deaths can be prevented by always keeping baby in a safe sleep area.

With your support we can continue to educate families on how to create safe sleep areas. Our Straight Talk for Infant Safe Sleep training educates health care providers on the American Academy of Pediatrics new Safe Sleep Guidelines and how to better connect with their families.  And our Let’s Talk Community Chats grassroots program mobilizes teams of our safe sleep facilitators to meet with families within communities across the country, providing support for breastfeeding, education on safe sleep and offering much needed items such as diapers, portable cribs and swaddles.  We also provide a 24hr grief line, online support groups and peer support volunteers to help grieving families who have lost a baby.
