In the summer of 2010 First Flight began with a simple challenge: to inspire ordinary people to achieve the seemingly impossible by completing their first 5K. Our team quickly grew full of members who all share their struggles, accomplishments, and words of encouragement. First Flight was born from our team’s dedication to build a stronger and healthier community. By attending our Camp #runthistown series, First Flight has helped hundreds of beginners cross a first finish line. We continue to host a series of races that are guaranteed to be a fun time or your money back! Proceeds from the race go to scholarship kids in the community to be active through our O.A.K program. “We are not a running club, we are First Flight!”

The oak tree is a symbol of strength and endurance; its roots dig deep, providing it with a strong foundation to grow and withstand the test of time. The mission of the O.A.K. scholarship program is to provide funding to children in the community who want to play sports and other recreational activities.  O.A.K. will provide partial to full scholarships to help eligible families cover the costs associated with youth sports.  We believe that by simply planting a seed, we can grow a community of OAK strong children.
