At Friends For Life, every animal matters. Founded in 2002, Friends For Life Animal Shelter introduced the no-kill shelter model to Houston – saving animals regardless of their breed, age or condition. Houston-grown, we’re here to help our neighbors care for the pets they love. We’re not finished until every animal has a safe home. Until then, we’ll be innovating, improving and tracking results to find the most effective ways to save lives.
FAQ:
Q: I have never run for a charity. How does it work? We’d love to for you to join our team or runners and walkers! When you sign up with a charity, we pay your registration fee. In return, you commit to raising money for shelter animals. The minimums are decided by the Chevron Marathon committee and apply to all Run for a Reason nonprofits: $250 for a 5K race and $500 for a marathon or a half marathon.
Q: What do I get for being part of the team? You help save animals and get a great support group! We have team Facebook and Instagram pages where runners exchange training tips and tools. You also get a team tech shirt, swag, raffle prizes, and can earn VIP Perks, and are invited to runners’ socials. If you are in Houston, we have a practice run/walk every Monday at 7:15 pm, starting at the shelter parking lot.
Q: The sign up form is confusing. Can somebody help me sign up? Absolutely! Please email runningteam@friends4life.org and one of our people will contact you to walk you through the questions.
Q: I already signed up to one of the Chevron races. Can I switch to the Friends For Life Running Team? YES! You can switch to our Charity Team! Email runningteam@friends4life.org and we’ll help with the switch.
