Friends For Life is built on a simple belief: Every Animal Matters. Founded in 2002 as Houston’s first no-kill shelter, we’ve worked to save animals regardless of breed, age, or medical condition. Rooted in our community, we support people and the pets they love. Innovation is part of our DNA. Until every animal is safe, we’ll keep testing, learning, and improving ways to save lives, inside our shelter and beyond.
FAQ:
Q: I have never run for a charity. How does it work? When you sign up with a charity, we pay your registration fee. In return, you commit to raising money for our cause. The minimums are decided by the Chevron Marathon committee: $250 for a 5K race and $500 for a marathon or a half marathon. Your deadline to raise the funds is January 5, 2027.
Q: How do I transfer the money I raise to Friends For Life? You don’t have to handle any of that. Once you register, you’ll receive your own personal fundraising page. Every donation made through your page is automatically tracked and sent directly to Friends For Life.
Q: What do I get for being part of the team? You help save animals : ) You’ll also have access to virtual fundraising days with matching donations to boost your total. You can join our private team Facebook group for training tips, tools, and support. You’ll receive an official team tech shirt, get invited to runner socials, and have the chance to earn VIP perks.
Q: I already signed up for one of the Chevron races. Can I switch to the Friends For Life Running Team? YES! You can switch to our Charity Team! Email runningteam@friends4life.org and we’ll help with the switch.
