For the first time, Launch Charter School will have 5 volunteers running the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon in November to raise funds and awareness for the organization. We can't think of a better time to take advantage of this opportunity - it's our 10 year anniversary and we're expanding to high school at Floyd Bennett Field.
Founded in 2012, Launch Expeditionary Learning Charter School (grade 6th-8th) is part of a network of 14 EL Education schools that is part of the NYC Outward Bound Schools network. We currently serve 260 students. EL is a proven educational model being implemented in over 150 district, charter and independent schools across the country.
Launch's mission is to prepare students in underserved communities to thrive in college and careers by providing a public education rooted in active learning experiences and powerful character development. We believe that students at all levels can be pushed and supported to do more than they thought possible. As an EL Education school, we believe that when a student is done with school and enters adult life, she/he will be judged for the rest of her/his life not by her performance on tests of basic skills, but by the quality of her work and the quality of her/his character.
