Man Up to Cancer, dedicated to helping men avoid isolation during their cancer journey, is proud to form a dedicated team under CanCare's banner for the 2026 Houston Marathon. This partnership represents a bridge between national and local cancer support. Combining Man Up to Cancer's brotherhood of strength and vulnerability with CanCare's 30-year legacy of one-on-one survivor support.

Join Our Team

Led by cancer warrior Bill Thach, our team embodies the spirit of both organizations. Diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroendocrine Carcinoma at 33, Bill has undergone nearly 1,000 doses of treatment over six years while becoming a vital connection between our communities. Despite ongoing treatment, Bill continues to advocate for movement, community, and showing up for others facing similar battles.

"Being part of both Man Up to Cancer and CanCare has shown me the incredible power of connection," says Bill. "Running this marathon represents every step we take together in the cancer journey. Sometimes painful, always meaningful, and never alone."

Why It Matters

Since 1996, Team CanCare has raised over $750,000 through the Houston Marathon's Run for a Reason program. These funds directly support services that reached over 11,500 cancer patients and caregivers last year alone.

For 30 years, CanCare has been matching patients with survivors for personalized support. Man Up to Cancer complements this work by creating spaces where men can find brotherhood through honesty and mutual support, transforming traditional notions of "manning up" into the courage to be vulnerable and connected.
