The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization co-founded in 1973 by Nobel Laureate Dr.
Albert Szent-Györgyi that provides scientists in the lab the critical seed
funding they need to make game-changing discoveries in cancer treatments,
detection, prevention and ultimately, a cure.
NFCR has distinguished itself in the cancer research sector
by emphasizing “high-risk, high-impact” pioneering research fields often
overlooked by other major funding sources. With the support of more than 5.3
million individual donors over the last 51 years, NFCR has provided $415 million in funding to cancer research, prevention, and public education,
leading to some of the life-saving discoveries that benefit patients today. We believe "Together, We Make Cures Possible!"
NFCR is proud to be a charity partner at the Marine
Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., on October 27, 2024!
We are covering registration fees for all of our runners
and just ask participants to fundraise minimal levels as part of our team
requirements - $250 for the 10K race and $500 for the primary or 50K race.
