For 23 years the colorful t-shirts of Public Counsel’s “Run for Justice” participants have brightened the streets of Los Angeles as teams from SoCal’s top law firms and major corporations have helped raise money to support our life-changing legal work. 

Public Counsel is a nonprofit law firm that advances civil rights and racial and economic justice. We are a team of lawyers, social workers, and support staff who work in deep partnership with communities to address their urgent issues and tackle the systems that are causing those issues in the first place. Our impact is amplified by thousands of volunteer pro bono attorneys who partner with us to support clients, take on high-impact cases, and strengthen our advocacy efforts.

We strive to improve individual lives and strengthen entire communities—providing immediate solutions for individual clients while working to end root causes of injustice, so that everyone has a fair chance to prosper.

Our work is guided by the principle that everyone deserves justice, regardless of income, race, gender, identity, or national origin. Public Counsel provides free legal services to those who otherwise could not afford them. We help low-income communities overcome legal barriers to stability, opportunity, and dignity.

The money raised through our Run for Justice helps Public Counsel continue this vital work addressing and meeting the needs of our clients and communities.  We are pleased to invite you to come out and Run for Justice with us at the LA 5k run/walk on March 7, 2026, or the full L.A. Marathon or Charity Half-Marathon on March 8, 2026.
