The Issue

More than 300,000 women and girls die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth every year. This is the equivalent of one mother dying every two minutes. It is well documented that the vast majority of these deaths are due to lack of access to basic sexual and reproductive healthcare services, and that up to 75% of these deaths could be prevented with simple, low cost interventions.

Our Mission

Saving Mothers is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to eradicating preventable maternal deaths and birth-related complications among marginalized women. We do this by: (1) training medical personnel in underserved communities, (2) developing low cost, low tech interventions such as our safe birth kits, and (3) coordinating pro bono surgical missions manned by highly skilled medical professionals from the top hospitals in the US.

Our Vision

A world where every woman - regardless of her ethnicity or socioeconomic status - has access to safe birth birthing practices and receives proper medical attention for issues of pregnancy and childbirth.

We are so excited to be celebrating our 10th consecutive year as a charity partner of the TCS NYC Marathon! As the mother of four healthy children, I would like to personally thank all of our runners and their donors for supporting our organization.
