For more than 150 years, the Texas-based nonprofit Upbring has worked to break the cycle of child abuse and advance child wellbeing across the state. Each year, Upbring serves more than 10,000 children and families through foster care, adoption, education and community-based programs.
In the Greater Houston area, every mile run for Upbring helps provide safety, stability and support to children and young adults at critical moments in their lives. Local programs include Foster in Texas (FIT), one of the state’s largest foster care and adoption programs; BeREAL, which supports young adults transitioning out of foster care; Head Start and Early Head Start preschools that prepares children for kindergarten while supporting families; and Krause Children’s Center, which offers trauma-informed care and healing services for unaccompanied minors. When runners choose Upbring, their miles help children heal, grow and move toward brighter futures right here in Houston.
